Former minister T Harish Rao accused the Congress government of “criminal negligence” for allowing Godavari water from Yellampalli to flow into the sea. He alleged the delay in operating KLIP pumps was deliberate to malign BRS and warned of a farmers’ agitation.
Operations were resumed on Saturday at the Nandi Medaram pump house to which water was released through the gravity canal from the Sripada Yellampalli reservoir.
The project has been left with a live storage of 4.21 TMC of water which would be utilised exclusively for meeting the drinking water needs of the twin cities and the villages en route.
Water from Yellampalli reservoir was taken to Nandimedaram pump house through the gravity canal. Later, water was lifted to Gayatri pump house from where it was lifted and dumped into the flood flow canal facilitating the farmers to supply water to standing crops by drawing from the canal.
