Hyderabad: The State Cabinet on Tuesday decided to allocate 50 per cent of the seats in all government residential schools to the local students of the respective Assembly constituencies.
The government’s move would benefit local students and ensure that these students continue their education closer to their home. There are over 917 welfare residential schools across the State. The government is spending Rs.1.5 lakh per year on each student studying in government residential schools.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who chaired the Cabinet meeting directed the officials concerned to invite the local MLAs, Zilla Parishad chairpersons, municipal chairpersons and MPPs to attend the monthly meetings of the government residential schools without fail.
