Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Wednesday said Telangana State had emerged as a role model for the entire country with its progress on all fronts under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
The Minister was speaking after hoisting the tricolour at the District Collectorate on the occasion of Telangana State Formation Day. Earlier, the Kamalakar along with public representatives and government officials paid tribute to Telangana martyrs at the martyrs’ memorial statue and garlanded the statue of Telangana Thalli.
Recalling the non-violent agitation launched by Chandrashekhar Rao to achieve Statehood for Telangana, he said Statehood was achieved with the sacrifices of hundreds of youths, and now he was at the helm of affairs to fulfill the aspirations of Telangana martyrs.
The sole concept of Statehood agitation was to ensure that Telangana gets its share of water, funds and jobs, he said, adding that the State had achieved enormous growth in these fields. “With the same spirit, Karimnagar town is also being developed as a model and will occupy prime place on all fronts,” he said.
“Besides development, priority was given to welfare schemes. There has been tremendous growth in welfare, irrigation, agriculture, rural development, power, IT, education, health and infrastructure sectors,” Kamalakar said, adding that the State government was committed to the development of BC communities and various programmes had been taken up for the welfare of BCs.
119 BC gurukulam colleges were established across the state with world class education standards. 12 BC study circles were also established. Besides enhancing BC reservations for another ten years, 17 new castes have also been included in the BC category. 130 BC castes have been provided top priority in all fronts and implemented various schemes for their self-reliance, the Minister said.
In order to provide food to the poor in the present Covid pandemic period, the state government was supplying 20 kg rice to each family.
Earlier, the united Andhra Pradesh government used to purchase only 14 lakh metric tons of paddy. However, it has been enhanced to a record quantity of 81 lakh metric tons after formation of Telangana. It was materialized only because of visionary policies being implemented by Chandrashekhar Rao.
MLAs Sunke Ravishankar and Rasamai Balkishan, MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kanumalla Vijaya, Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, District Collector K Shashanka and others participated in the celebrations.
