Sangareddy: Narayankhed MLA Patlolla Sanjeeva Reddy sparked a controversy on Saturday by highlighting disparities in fund allocation between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency and other regions, including his own.
Speaking at a Congress padayatra meeting in Andole constituency, Reddy said he would be satisfied if the government sanctioned even 25% of the funds allocated to Kodangal for Narayankhed. His remarks came in the presence of AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, and Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha, none of whom responded publicly to his concerns.
Reddy argued that Narayankhed and Kodangal are both backward border constituencies along the Telangana–Karnataka border and deserve equal development attention. Citing Article 371(D) of the Constitution, he pointed out the constitutional obligation to prioritise backward regions.
He also noted that while Nizam-ruled areas now in Karnataka are receiving special development funds, Telangana’s border regions like Narayankhed and Zaheerabad continue to be neglected, even after the formation of the separate State.
Several party workers from Narayankhed echoed similar grievances during the meeting.
