Robbers loot Rs 40 lakh in midnight highway heist near Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a dramatic incident, armed robbers decamped with Rs 40 lakh after attacking a car near Kottapalli in Shankarpally on the city outskirts around midnight on Thursday.

According to police, a Ford Figo (TS 09 UD 0093) traveling from Vikarabad towards Hyderabad was rammed from behind by unidentified assailants. The gang then smashed the car’s windows, hurled chilli powder into the eyes of the driver and passengers, and fled with the cash.

While escaping in a Swift Dzire, the robbers lost control, causing the car to overturn. They abandoned the vehicle at the spot, leaving behind part of the cash, and escaped with the rest.
