Telangana DCA detects illegal stocks of drugs meant for ESI dispensaries

Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, has detected illegal stock of ‘ESI Hospital Supply Drugs’, which were meant for patients visiting ESI dispensaries and hospitals, at a medical shop in Karimnagar.
Investigations revealed that Dunaboina Murali Rao, an ESI Dispensary pharmacy at Sirpur Kagaznagar, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, was illegally diverting the hospital stocks to Gampa Krishna, the Managing Partner of Sri Srinivasa Medical, Karimnagar. During the raids, the drug inspectors seized drugs, including antidiabetics and antiasthamatic medications, worth Rs 4.87 lakh.
DCA teams also raided Bhargavi Medical Stores, Warasiguda and detected 54 varieties of expired medicines, worth Rs 60,000, that were stocked along with saleable drugs on the racks of the medical shop. Another medical shop, operated by Adluru Karthik at Bhainsa village, Nirmal district, was also raided and 11 varieties of unauthorized stocks worth Rs 15, 000 was seized.
Nine raids were also conducted in the state between October 15 and October 22 and the teams seized illegally stocked drugs worth Rs 3.52 lakh from quacks. The facilities were raided include J Kantha Reddy (Wanaparthy), Gandasiri Ramesh Anand (Mahabubabad), Lasman Pramanik (Patancheru), Voram Srikanth (Medak), Mankali Yadagiri (Nagarkurnool), Gundu Shankaraiah (Peddapalli), Gaddamidi Srinivas (Medchal-Malkajgiri), Mohammad Abdul Azeem ( Narayanpet) and Patel Kishan (Medchal-Malkajgiri).
The DCA teams also detected the product ‘RESOLAC-R Sachets’ (Saccharomyces Boulardii, Lactic acid Bacillus & Racecadotril 10mg circulating in the market. The product, illegally manufactured by Shivani Life Sciences, Solan, HP, was falsely manufactured under a FSSAI license and falsely claimed to be a food product/nutraceutical.
