Hyderabad: In the wake of a surge in Covid-19 cases, the State Cabinet has decided to impose the lockdown for 10 days commencing from 10 am on May 12 (Wednesday).
However, the lockdown will be relaxed for four hours from 6 am to 10 am everyday to facilitate public needs. The Cabinet will meet again on May 20, to review the situation and take further decisions on continuation of lockdown and other measures.
During the meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan here on Tuesday, the State Cabinet decided to continue paddy purchases in the best interest of farmers in the State. Lockdown will not be applicable to all types of agricultural activities related to agricultural production, allied sectors, agricultural machinery work, operation of rice mills, related transportation and supply of paddy to the Food Corporation of India (FCI), fertilisers and seed shops, seed factories etc.
Further, pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, medical distributors, medical shops, all kinds of medical services, government and private clinics, their employees, and staff, will be issued individual passes and vehicles passes, to enable them continue their operations.
Essential services including drinking water supply and sanitation management in rural and urban areas; power generation, distribution companies and their allied activities; operation of petrol and diesel outlets as well as transportation on national highways; cold storage and warehousing activities; print and electronic media, have been exempted from lockdown. MGNREGS works will continue as usual, for the benefit of the cardholders.
The banks and ATMs are allowed to function normally, while LPG filling stations also are allowed to operate. However, all the government offices will function with only 33 per cent (one-third) of their total staff.
A maximum number of 40 people will be allowed for weddings on obtaining prior permissions, while a maximum of 20 people will be allowed for funerals. The State Cabinet has decided to allow operation of all RTC, Hyderabad Metro Rail and other pubic transport systems from 6 am to 10 am everyday, while ration shops also will remain open during the relaxation period.
The Cabinet has decided to establish checkposts on the State borders to restrict arrival of fresh Covid-19 cases in the State. It has also decided to completely shutdown cinema halls, clubs, gyms, swimming pools, amusement parks, sports stadia and other such public places. DGP M Mahender Reddy has been directed to ensure that all the places and sectors which have been exempted from lockdown, function in strict adherence to Covid-19 protocol.
Exempted:
All types of agricultural activities related to production and allied sectors
Pharma companies, medical device manufacturers, medical distributors, medical shops, all kinds of medical services, government and private clinics
Individual passes and vehicles passes will be issued to enable employees continue their operations
