Telangana government to decide new fee structure in engineering colleges soon
It plans to revise engineering college fees, considering Supreme Court guidelines and infrastructure standards. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasised the need for global benchmarks amid rising demand for AI courses. Admissions counselling will be completed on time
Hyderabad: The State government plans to decide on the fee structure in engineering colleges, and the fee structure would be finalised by examining every aspect of the engineering colleges, including the teaching staff, teaching standards, lab facilities, buildings, and other infrastructure.
In view of a growing demand for courses such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy wanted engineering colleges in the State to compete with world-class standards.
The Supreme Court had directed in the cases of Islamic Academy of Education vs Karnataka and PA Inamdar and Others vs Maharashtra that the facilities, labs, salaries paid to lecturers, teaching and non-teaching staff, and future plans of the college should be taken into consideration while finalising the fee.
The State government decided to take the Supreme Court judgments into account in determining the fees, a statement from the Chief Minister’s office said.
The State government also decided to complete the counseling process for admissions in engineering colleges within the stipulated time.
