Hyderabad: Government employees, teachers, pensioners and others have decided to launch a series of protests from September 1 against the Congress government for failing to address their 63 demands, including the payment of pending DAs and long-overdue bills.

Under the aegis of the Joint Action Committee of Telangana Employees, Gazetted Officers, Teachers, Workers and Pensioners (TGEJAC), employees have also called for a Chalo Hyderabad protest on October 12.

The decisions were taken at the TGEJAC meeting held in Hyderabad on Tuesday. To start with, employees will hold a meeting at Lalitha Kala Thoranam, followed by similar meetings at all Integrated District Office Complexes in the districts.

The State government had earlier assured the release of Rs.700 crore every month to clear pending bills and promised health cards for all employees. However, the funds have not been released and the commitments remain unfulfilled.

TGEJAC Secretary General E Sreenivasa Rao, addressing a press conference, said the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted by the government had failed to address the grievances.

“Protesting against the State government apathy towards the employees and pensioners, we have decided to stage demonstrations across the State,” he said.
