Adilabad: The gram sabhas conducted to identify beneficiaries for four key welfare schemes — Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Housing Scheme, Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa and Ration Card Distribution, set to be launched by the government on January 26 — continued to witness ruckus for the third day in parts of erstwhile Adilabad district on Thursday.

Villagers boycotted the grama sabhas faulting officials for preparing a draft list of beneficiaries of four schemes at Kubeer mandal centre in Nirmal district. They said that eligible beneficiaries were not included in the list.

Officials left the meeting without answering questions raised by participants at Patha Yellapur and Gosampelli village in Khanapur mandal.

Participants expressed disappointment upon discovering that their names were missing during gram sabhas held at 14th ward in Ramakrishnapur town in Mancherial district.

They found fault with officials for selecting retired coal miners and for ignoring daily wage laborers. They criticised the government for delaying the process of identifying the beneficiaries.

Similar chaotic scenes were witnessed at the meeting organised in Tejapur village of Neradigonda mandal and Bela mandal centre of Adilabad district.

Villagers submitted a representation seeking cancellation of the Indiramma Housing committee at Karjelli village in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.
