Nirmal: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that State-run hospitals, which were known for tacky infrastructure in the past, now became reliable destinations of quality medical services to the public. He along with Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy laid foundation stone to a 250-bedded district headquarters hospital here on Thursday. The estimated cost of the facility if Rs 39.96 crore.
Recalling how people used to be hesitant to visit the hospital in the past , while addressing the crowd, Harish Rao said that people were now making beelines at the facilities, considering improved medical services and infrastructure. He stated that Telangana would become a role model to the country in healthcare sector, which underwent a sea change following the bifurcation.
The Minister stated that new medical colleges were created in Telangana. The region used to have three medical colleges in united Andhra Pradesh, but it has 17 institutions now. Harish Rao urged ASHA workers and staffers of medical and health department to strive hard to increase institutional deliveries. He told them to achieve the deliveries by 80 percent and set an example to the country. He was all praise for the workers for rendering services. He said that they had played a vital role in containing the Covid-19. He congratulated them.
He stated that Telangana government twice raised salaries of the workers, who were earlier drawing Rs 1,500 per month. He said that they were now getting Rs 9,750 a month, showing substantial rise. He informed that 27,000 workers were provided with smartphones. He added that the workers, who were once down looked upon, were now being respected.
The Minister said that Telangana was registering a spurt in cases of diabetes and blood pressure. He requested the workers to lay special focus on the patients of the diseases. He stated that a pilot project, Telangana health profile, would be rolled out exclusively treating the patients in Mulugu and Sircilla districts on March 5.
Indrakaran Reddy urged the minister to bring medical and nursing colleges for Nirmal, besides sanctioning a 100-bedded hospital to Khanapur town.
MLC Dande Vittal, Zilla Parishad Chairperson K Vijayalaxmi, Khanapur MLA A Rekha Naik, MLA Vittal Reddy, former minister Vengopala Chary, Collector Musharraf Ali Faruqui, and many others were present.
