Hyderabad: Justice K Lakshman of Telangana High Court directed Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) to provide edit option and All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to create credentials to SVIT by January 30, 2025 and permit it to upload the documents for the academic year 2025-26 considering the last date for uploading is February 2, 2025.

Mahabub College, a registered society, filed the writ plea challenging the actions of JNTU for not giving the edit option to change the registered email address of the SVIT college and AICTE for not creating new credentials in favour of the petitioner. The petitioner college and Venkata Narayana Educational Society have entered into a licence agreement for the purpose of running Swami Vivekananda Institute of Technology (SVIT), Swami Vivekananda PG College (SVPG) and Bolton School.

The petitioner later terminated the agreement. The counsel for petitioner argued that the president of Venkata Narayana society i.e., Dr M Satvanarayana, Joseph P Mosiganti and others are illegally representing themselves as Director of SVIT and using the credentials of the official portal of SVIT.

The petitioner argued that AICTE did not create new credentials despite paying 6000/- for creation of password. That since the AICTE issued public notice on 04.11.2024 for approval process for the academic year 2025-26 for setting up new technical institutions and extension of approval for existing institutions, the Petitioner told to court that without password the petitioner cannot submit its application and sought directions to AICTE to create credentials.

On the other hand, the JNTU told the court that there are serious disputes between the Petitioner and Venkata Narayana society and told both the parties to settle the disputes before approaching JNTU for edit option. Whereas the counsel for AICTE told to Court that the request of the Petitioner to create new password is fulfilled and the new password was sent to its mail address. In addition, the counsel for Venkata Narayana Society told to Court that there is no option of terminating the agreement and that they are ready to work along with the Petitioner’s society and it would try to resolve the disputes before approaching authorities for seeking permission for further MBA courses.

Hearing the arguments at length, the judge observed that there are a total of 1800 students in the SVIT college and there are indeed serious disputes between the petitioner and Venkata Narayana Society. That the petitioner society has to submit its application and upload information for the academic year 2025-26 noting the last date for uploading all the documents is 02.02.2025 i.e., extended period. The judge in conclusion to protect the interest of the students of the SVIT and to make some interim arrangement, directed the JNTU to provide edit option to the petitioner and AICTE to create credentials by permitting the petitioner to restore the original e-mail lD and permit them to upload the relevant documents and disposed the matter.
