Hyderabad: Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao of the Telangana High Court on Monday issued notices to the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) regarding a petition seeking revaluation of the Group-1 Mains examination papers.

The petition, filed by S Naresh and 22 other candidates, alleges irregularities and lack of transparency in the evaluation process.

The petitioners’ counsel argued that the evaluation of the Group-1 answer scripts was not conducted in a transparent manner.

They further contended that the evaluators appointed by TGPSC were not subject matter experts in the respective subjects.

The petitioner’s counsel also highlighted that some evaluators were not proficient in Telugu or Urdu, the mediums in which some candidates wrote the exam, and were not local subject matter experts.

This, they argued, severely disadvantaged candidates who opted for Telugu or Urdu mediums.

The petitioners’ counsel pointed to a press release issued by TGPSC on March 13, which stated that 351 experts were appointed across 12 subjects nationwide.

In response, TGPSC’s counsel PS Rajasekhar argued that the petition was premature as the results had not yet been released.

He contended that filing a petition at this stage was a hasty move.

After hearing both sides, the judge issued notices to the State government and TGPSC, seeking their explanations.

The court adjourned the case for further hearing to April 21.
