Telangana panchayat polls: 5,063 nominations filed on Day One

On the opening day of nominations for the first phase of gram panchayat elections in Telangana, 3,242 nominations were filed for panchayats and 1,821 for wards, totalling 5,063. Yadadri Bhongir district recorded the highest number of nominations at 209.

Hyderabad: On the first day of filing nominations, 3,242 nominations were filed for gram panchayats and 1,821 for wards across the State.

In the first phase, elections are being conducted for 4,236 panchayats and 37,440 wards. Among the 3,242 nominations filed on Thursday, the highest number of 209 nominations were filed in Yadadri Bhongir, followed by 207 in Suryapet and 162 in Vikarabad.

The last day for filing nominations is Saturday. Candidates can withdraw their nominations before December 3 and the final list of contesting candidates will be published the same day.
