More than 3,000 nominations were filed from 11 urban local bodies in the erstwhile Adilabad district on Friday, with major participation from national and regional parties as officials worked late into the night to complete the process.

A total of 2,862 nominations were filed for 494 gram panchayats in the erstwhile Adilabad district for the third phase of rural local body polls. Another 8,858 nominations were submitted for 4,152 wards. Withdrawals are allowed until December 9; polling is on December 17.

A total of 63 candidates filed 109 sets of nominations as part of filing nominations held from April 18 to 25. 14 nominations were rejected in the scrutiny due to lack of required documents and details of candidates.
