The Telangana Pollution Control Board observed International E-Waste Day, stressing the need for responsible use and recycling of electronic items. Officials urged citizens to hand over old gadgets to authorised centres to reduce pollution and promote resource conservation

Hyderabad: Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) observed International E-Waste Day with key stakeholders to promote responsible e-waste management and highlight the importance of sustainable production and recycling practices.
D Krupanand, TGPCB Joint Chief Environmental Engineer, pointed out that prolonged and responsible use of electrical and electronic products can significantly reduce the generation of e-waste.
Sree Harsha, Project Faculty, EPTRI, gave a PowerPoint presentation on E-Waste management and rules and responsibilities of manufacturers, recyclers, refurbishers and producers and challenges faced for collection of E-Waste.
TGPCB Senior Environmental Engineer Dayanand said, “Creating awareness among citizens about the hazards of improper disposal and encouraging them to hand over their discarded electrical and electronic items to authorised collection centres will help in minimising environmental pollution.”
“By discarding unused items and proper disposal and recycling of such goods can significantly reduce the generation of e-waste and promote resource conservation,” said Dr W G Prasanna Kumar, Senior Social Scientist.
