Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao said that the government was still giving old mess charges for residential schools and colleges and old cosmetic bills to the students.
Addressing the students after distributing sweaters and blankets to students at bridge school in Siddipet on Saturday, Rao said that the pending mess bills were hurting the functioning of residential schools and colleges. He demanded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy release the pending bills immediately.
Despite Revanth claiming that he ensured the release of funds to residential institutes through a green channel, Rao said the release of bills to all the hostels were pending for four months.
He further said that the government was not releasing the increased mess charges and cosmetic charges. Though the mess bills for up to upper primary school students increased from Rs 1,050 to Rs 1,300 and to Rs 1,500 for high school students and cosmetic bills increased from Rs 100 to Rs 150, he said that the hostel wardens and students were getting old bills only.
The former minister said that the government was not releasing the bills in time though it was getting money from the Centre. Despite holding education, and welfare ministries with the Chief Minister, Rao said that Revanth neglected the residential institutes.
Rao urged the youth to distribute sweaters and blankets to residential school students by restricting spending on December 31.
