Hyderabad: Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Danda Raji Reddy said African nations could achieve progress in the seed sector by adopting the Telangana seed sector model—a state that has taught valuable lessons to the world in this field—as a model.

He noted that the university, in particular, has achieved numerous successes in vegetable seed production through the application of advanced technology.

Speaking at an international training programme titled “Seed Awareness and Industry Development” held at Horticultural University, Raji Reddy highlighted that Telangana has already earned the reputation of being the ‘Global Seed Capital,’ cultivating seed crops across hundreds of thousands of acres in collaboration with over 450 national and international seed companies.

During the event, it was announced that arrangements would be made to enable researchers and students from African nations to visit the Horticultural University in Telangana to receive training in the production of high-quality seeds for horticultural crops.

A delegation comprising 30 Nigerian nationals—including Joshua Mark Makun, Director General of Taraba State (Nigeria), and Ali Sara Sabu Danjuma, Permanent Secretary of the Department of Agriculture—participated in the training programme.
