Telangana Horticultural University aims to file one patent a month
At a national workshop on intellectual property in horticulture, Vice Chancellor Dr. Danda Raji Reddy announced that Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University aims to file at least one patent per month to protect innovations.
Hyderabad:Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University Vice Chancellor Dr. Danda Raji Reddy said the university is targeting to file at least one patent per month to protect institution-led innovations in horticulture.
Participating in the national workshop on ‘Protecting Innovations in Horticulture – Intellectual Property Rights Awareness program’, Dr. Reddy emphasized the need to safeguard farmer-driven and institution-led innovations through robust IPR frameworks.
Encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration to bridge science, law, and community knowledge, he announced that the university would extend financial support to innovations deemed patent-worthy emerging from its researchers and students.
Subhajit Saha, Head, Legal and IPR of Resolute for IP, delivered a keynote on patents, IPRs and Geographical Indications and their benefits in horticulture. Organizing secretary Dr. Pidigam Saidaiah shared the university’s initiative to compile Telangana’s horticultural heritage and traditional farming practices into legally recognised geographical indication (GI) applications.
