Hyderabad: The Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TG REDCO) has invited bids from private Charge Point Operators (CPOs) for the establishment, operation, maintenance, upgradation and commercial management of 369 public EV charging stations.

Telangana ranks fourth in the country in terms of electricity consumption by EV charging stations. With the number of electric vehicles increasing steadily, the State government is focusing on expanding public charging infrastructure to meet the growing demand.

TG REDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Faruqui said several national highways and major transportation corridors pass through the State, resulting in significant inter-State travel and freight movement.

At the same time, rapid changes in lifestyles, increasing urbanisation and growing dependence on personal vehicles are driving strong demand for electric vehicles, he said.

In Hyderabad, the 200 public EV charging stations established by TG REDCO would cover the Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri municipal areas and would be developed across six clusters. The selected CPOs will be responsible for their operation, maintenance, upgradation and commercial management.

Under the TGNPDCL jurisdiction, 169 public EV charging stations will be established at 16 locations covering the erstwhile districts of Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad.

The selected CPOs will be responsible for survey, design, supply, civil works, installation, testing and commissioning, besides operation and maintenance for a period of 10 years. Eligible bidders will also be provided a subsidy, subject to the applicable terms and conditions, under the PM E-DRIVE scheme.

In both projects, the EV charging tariff for consumers has been fixed at Rs 13 per unit, plus GST. The same tariff will remain applicable throughout the contract period. For the Hyderabad project, provisions have been made to ensure a minimum 95 per cent uptime of the chargers.

The pre-bid meeting for the 169-charging-station project will be held on September 7 at 11.30 am, while the pre-bid meeting for the 200-charging-station project will be held on the same day at 11 am.

The bid submission process will commence on September 8 and close on September 22. The tenders have to be submitted through the Telangana e-Procurement Portal.
