TGANB busts chloral hydrate manufacturing unit in Nirmal, five held

Nirmal: Officials from the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), Task Force, and the Prohibition and Excise Department arrested five persons in connection with the alleged manufacturing of banned substances, chloral hydrate (solid state) and alprazolam, at an illegal manufacturing unit in Nirmal on Saturday.
The arrested persons were identified as Burra Ramesh Goud, Rama Goud, Srinivas Goud, Rajashekhar Goud, and Raju Goud. Acting on a tip-off, officials raided the facility and seized 425 kg of chloral hydrate, 1 kg of alprazolam, five mobile phones, and two cars, with the total value of the seized contraband estimated at Rs.10 lakh.
During interrogation, Ramesh and Rama Goud admitted to operating a makeshift manufacturing unit at Chityala in Nirmal. They revealed that they procured chloral hydrate in liquid form from Mumbai and converted it to solid state using cold water. Their intended clientele was primarily toddy traders in the district.
TGANB Superintendent of Police Rupesh, Inspectors Ramesh, Purneshwar, Rangaswamy, Special Task Force Sub-Inspector Balaraju, and staffers Nithin and Koushik took part in the operation.
