Hyderabad: Spicy cake is a delectable savoury cake, different from our usual sweet cake. Traditionally made with a mixture of spices, it has many variants. Predominantly spices like ginger,cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, apple cider, pepper, paprika or all spices are used to flavour it. It can be layered and topped with tangy and creamy cheese frosting to take the taste to another level. Whether topped or not it tastes distinct and is flavourful as well.
Cakes are a modification of bread, generally a sweet food but now it has a wide range of variants and preparations like pies, pastries, meringues and a spiced variant as well. It can also be a sweet cake spiced with a spice that tastes surprisingly delicious like banana and cinnamon.
So this Christmas season, let’s bake an incredibly tasty, savoury and spicy cake to make it special in every way. It is simple and easy to bake at home. Relish and cherish it with family and friends.

Ingredients:
* Semolina : 1 cup
* Salt : 1/2 tsp
* Pepper powder : 1/4 tsp
* Curd : 1/2 Cup
* Oil : 1/4 cup
- Water : As needed
* Oil : 1 tsp - Cumin seeds : 1/2 tsp
- Garlic : 1/2 tsp
* Ginger : 1/2 tsp
* Onion : 1/4 cup
* Green chili : 1 tsp or as to taste
* Capsicum : 1 tbsp, finely chopped
* Carrot : 1/4 cup, grated
* Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
* Soda : 1/4 tsp - Coriander leaves : Finely chopped and needed
* Sesame seeds : As required to sprinkle
Method:
* Spicy, delicious cake, a different kind of evening snack.
- Take a mixing bowl, add a Cup of Semolina (Upma Rava/ Sooji), add 1/2 a Tsp of Salt and 1/4 Tsp ofPepper Powder and mix.
- Add 1/2 a cup ofCurd and 1/4 Cup of Oil and mix, add some water to it and combine them all and let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes with a lid on it.
- Heat a pan with 1Tsp of Oil, add 1/2 a Tsp of Cumin Seeds, Garlic and Ginger finely chopped each sauté them for a while.· Add 1/4 Cup of finely chopped Onion, a Teaspoon of Green Chili finely chopped, add 2 Tablespoons ofCapsicum, 1/4 Cup of Carrot grate.
- Any veggies of our choice can be added, sauté them all for 2 to 3 Minutes, put off the flame and let it cool down.
- Take a wide and thick bottomed pan, preheat it for 5 minutes on medium flame.
- After 15 minutes we can see the Semolina mixture has become thick, add some water and mix it till we get required consistency.
* Add the sautéed veggies, 1/4 Teaspoon of Turmeric Powder and Soda to it. - Mix them all and adjust the taste, add some finely chopped Coriander Leaves.
- Grease a baking tray of any material, spread a butter paper, sprinkle some Sesame Seeds and pour the batter.
* Place a stand and place the baking tray with a lid on it.· After 30 minutes, prick a toothpick if it comes out neatly its baked and let it cool down. - Transfer it to a separate plate, take off the butter paper, cut them into required and desired pieces.
* Spicy and a different cake is ready.
