Three held for threatening prosecutors, witnesses in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday arrested three persons on charges of threatening public prosecutors and witnesses with regard to the trial in the sensational murder of Dr Chigurupati Jayaram, an NRI businessman who was murdered in 2019.
The arrested persons were Mohd Akbar Ali (35), a male nurse at the Chanchalguda Central Prison, K Magaiah Guptha (58), a realtor and K Srinivas (38), a civil contractor. The prime suspect in the case, Rakesh Reddy, is in jail. According to the police, Rakesh Reddy who has been in judicial remand since February 2019, with a malicious intention to get acquittal in the case, plotted to threaten the public prosecutors and witnesses to keep away from the case.
For this, Rakesh induced Akbar and his friends Guptha and Srinvas by offering huge amounts to cooperate with him. They then sent handwritten letters to people threatening them. Based on a complaint, a case was booked and the suspects were held.
