Kothagudem: Paloncha police have cracked a murder case and arrested three persons, including a woman.
Speaking to the media at Paloncha on Wednesday, DSP Sathish Kumar said one Puttala Naresh of Petacheruvu under Paloncha town police station limits died on February 11. Naresh’s mother Chukkamma lodged a complaint with the police expressing doubts about his death and a case was registered on February 17. The body buried in the Petacheruvu cemetery was exhumed, a panchnama and postmortem were conducted and the case was investigated. Based on scientific evidence, two persons involved in the case, Gaddala Sambasiva Rao of Uppaka village in Pinapaka mandal and his friend Thati Naresh of Venkatapuram, Mulugu district were taken into custody and questioned.
During investigation, it was learnt that Naresh had allegedly harassed his wife Rajitha after he found out about her illicit relationship with Sambasiva Rao, who happened to be the woman’s brother-in-law. Rajitha and Sambasiva Rao then hatched a plan to eliminate Naresh, the DSP said.
On February 10, Naresh and Rajitha went to their relatives’ house at Sarapaka for a family function. Sambasiva Rao and his friend Naresh, as per the plan, laced a bottle of alcohol with insecticide and gave it to Naresh, who after returning home, consumed it, fell ill and died the next day.
An elderly man Bojja Venkateswarlu of Petacheruvu also fell seriously ill after he drank the same liquor that killed Naresh. After treatment, his health improved and he was discharged from a hospital in Khammam recently.
Sambasiva Rao, Naresh and Rajitha were arrested and produced before court, after which they were remanded in judicial custody, the DSP added.
