Visakhapatnam: Maoist area committee member and militia commander Korra Sita (25) alias Swarna alias Sailu, and two other militia members surrendered to police here on Monday.
Talking to reporters on the occasion, Visakhapatnam Range DIG LKV Rangarao and Superintendent of Police B Krishna Rao said Sita who carried a Rs 4 lakh reward on her head, belongs to Sakirevu village of Jamiguda panchayat in Pedabayalu mandal of the agency, was working in Maoist party for the past ten years.
She was involved in nine murder cases and six incidents of exchange of fire, blasting of landmines, destruction of property, ambushing and famine raids.
Militia members Pangi Gopala Rao alias Gopal and Korra Venkata Rao hailed from Munagalaveedhi hamlet of Balapam panchayat in Chintapalle mandal and were looking after arranging meetings of Maoists, food and taking people to the meetings.
Sita said her health had suffered as she could neither eat nor sleep properly with constant combing by the police and therefore surrendered. She also said the Girijans were not showing any interest to join the Maoist party which was killing tribals labelling them as police informers.
