Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A transient female tiger on the prowl in the Tiryani range has killed at least five cows in recent days, sparking panic among locals.
The tiger, believed to have migrated from the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra in search of territory, was reportedly sighted near an opencast mining project on the outskirts of Goleti village in Rebbena mandal a few days ago. Residents urged Forest officials to divert the big cat into dense forest areas and to release compensation for the cattle lost to the attacks. Shepherds said they were living under constant threat and feared for their safety.
Forest officials advised villagers to stay vigilant, move in groups during farm work, and make noise to deter the animal. They added that CCTV camera traps would be installed and animal trackers deployed to monitor its movement.
