According to sources, a passerby spotted a tiger moving from Sarapaka pushkaravanam to the forests located towards Nagineniprolu village in Burgampahad mandal late on Thursday evening.
Kothagudem: The movements of an elusive tiger were reportedly found in Burghampahad and Aswapuram mandals in the district on Thursday and Friday.
According to sources, a passerby spotted a tiger moving from Sarapaka pushkaravanam to the forests located towards Nagineniprolu village in Burgampahad mandal late on Thursday evening. Again on Friday morning, a few villagers reportedly sighted a tiger moving near the forests at Ramachandrapuram in Aswapuram mandal. A villager, Venkateshwarlu told the media and forest officials that he spotted a tiger at the fields near the village.
On receiving information, forest officials reached the villages and inspected the pugmarks. The forest staff have been patrolling the areas where the tiger was sighted but they could not spot any movements of the animal, said T Venu Babu, Forest Divisional Officer, Manugur.
He visited the villages and interacted with the villagers. He said the big cat was sighted by locals in Gundala, Yellandu, Allapalli, Manugur and Karakagudem areas in the past one week.
‘We have been collecting all data to submit to higher officials. We have installed CCTV cameras at waterholes in the forest in Yellandu, Paloncha and Manugur division. Public are advised to remain cautious and not to venture out during night hours’ he added.
