Adilabad: The movement of a tiger in the forests of Boath and Sarangapur mandals triggered panic on Monday after it was captured on a CCTV camera trap installed by the Forest department.
According to forest officials, the tiger, estimated to be around two years old, was seen on the outskirts of Boath. They suspect it may have strayed into the region from the neighbouring Maharashtra in search of habitat and prey.
Officials said the animal’s movement was being closely tracked, and awareness campaigns were underway in nearby villages. They urged residents to remain cautious and avoid sudden encounters with the tiger, advising farmers to make noise while moving through fields to avoid startling the animal. Efforts are also on to divert the tiger into deeper forested areas and facilitate its safe passage.
The tiger had reportedly killed a calf in Boath forests a few days ago, adding to the fear among villagers. It was recently sighted on the fringes of Sarangapur mandal in Nirmal district.
