Jagtial: In the wake of party leader T Jeevan Reddy’s decision to quit the party on March 25, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud swung into action to convince the senior congress leader to reverse his decision.
The TPCC chief along with AICC secretary Sachin Sawant and Vemulawada MLA and government whip Adi Srinivas met Jeevan Reddy at his residence here on Tuesday and held discussions.
Unable to digest the party’s attitude in giving top priority to Jagtial MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar, who joined the congress after winning on BRS ticket, Jeevan Reddy has decided to quit the party.
In the wake of the senior party leader’s decision, the party high command deployed the Ministers D Sridhar Babu and Adluri Laxman Kumar to convince Jeevan Reddy. On March 21, they met Jeevan Reddy and held discussions.
Not convinced with the ministers’ discussions, Jeevan Reddy on Sunday announced the date to quit the party on March 25 by organizing a meeting with his followers and party workers in Jagtial.
Since only 24 hours are left, the TPCC president personally swung into action and held discussions with senior party leader at his residence.
On the other hand, mild tension prevailed at Jeevan Reddy’s residence when party workers tried to prevent Jagtial DCC president Nandaiah from entering the house to meet Jeevan Reddy.
A follower of Jeevan Reddy, Nandaiah recently shifted his loyalty to MLA Sanjay Kumar.
On the other hand, Jeevan Reddy refused to wear a congress party scarf. On the occasion of TPCC chief’s visit, party workers tried to place a congress scarf on the shoulder of Jeevan Reddy. However, he refused to wear it.
