Hyderabad: A day after the central government’s directive from the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda police officials have conducted thorough verifications to identify Pakistani nationals residing in the city under SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) visas on Thursday.
The CCS decision taken on Wednesday, aimed to repatriate Pakistani nationals holding SAARC visas as part of a broader national security measure. Acting on this, the Special Branch officials meticulously reviewed records and conducted field verifications across various neighborhoods.
After comprehensive checks which went on for a few hours, the Special Branch authorities confirmed that no Pakistani nationals with valid SAARC visas (SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme) are currently residing within the jurisdictions of the three commissionerates.
“We have verified all relevant records and found no individuals matching the criteria outlined in the CCS directive pertaining to the SAARC visa holders,” said a senior official from the Special Branch, Hyderabad.
Similarly, there was nobody with found in both Rachakonda and Cyberabad police limits staying with a SAARC visa.
Officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities.
Under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme, certain categories of dignitaries are issued a special travel document. This special instrument exempts them from the need for visas and other travelling documents. The list has 24 categories of people, including dignitaries, judges of higher courts, parliamentarians, senior officials, businessmen, journalists and sportsmen.
