Hyderabad: The ‘Maha Dharna’ organised by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Delhi for farmers, garnered nation-wide attention as well as support from various parts of the country on Monday. While the streets of Delhi in the surroundings of Telangana Bhavan where the dharna was held, were filled with flex boards and pink flags, the ‘#OneNationOneProcurement’ emerged as a national trend for several hours.

Since Sunday evening, the surroundings of Telangana Bhavan were abuzz with the Telangana leaders.
Pink flags along with flex boards of TRS President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the party working president and Minister KT Rama Rao along with other Ministers and elected representatives were installed in the surrounding areas, painting the entire area in pink.

The massive hoardings of Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao have been put up on the streets of Delhi demanding for a uniform national policy for food grains procurement. More than 150 hoardings are said to have been installed near the Parliament with slogans of ‘One nation and one paddy procurement policy’ and ‘the Central government must safeguard the passion of the farmers’.

The TRS leaders started trickling to the venue since early morning. The elected representatives chose different forms of protests wearing black dresses, carrying paddy saplings and others.

Prior to sitting for the protest at around 10 am, the Chief Minister along with the Cabinet members paid tributes to the statue of Telangana Talli, portraits of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Dr BR Ambedkar along with the Telangana Martyrs Memorial arranged at the venue. Bharatiya Kisan union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait and other farmers leaders also joined the protest in the national capital, supporting the cause.

The ‘Maha Dharna’ organised by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi at Telangana Bhavan, was attended by the entire Cabinet of Telangana along with TRS MPs, legislators and other elected representatives.
However, the party working president KT Rama Rao who participated in the demonstration, was seen sitting amid the party leaders off the main dais. Other leaders including MLC K Kavitha also sat with the party colleagues off the dais.

Meanwhile, the TRS protest received support from the netizens across the country. The ‘#OneNationOneProcurement’ kept trending at the top of national trends for several hours on microblogging site Twitter. More than 1.1 lakh tweets were posted by the netizens supporting the fight taken up by the Chief Minister for farmers. They appreciated the initiative and demanded the Centre to own up its responsibility to protect the farmers of the country.
