Hyderabad: Upping the ante against the Central Government with a demand to procure entire paddy produced during Yasangi season in Telangana as was being done in Punjab, the TRS party has decided to stage protests all over the State and also in the ensuing session of the Parliament.
The TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who was huddled with his cabinet colleagues and senior officials on Saturday afternoon, decided to call for a TRS legislature party meeting. The Chief Minister directed all MLAs, MLCs, Party State Executive Committee Members, District Presidents, ZP Chairpersons, Presidents of DCCBs, DCMS and District Presidents of Rythu Bandhu Samithies to attend this meeting.
Immediately after the meeting the Chief Minister along with a team of ministers, will fly to Delhi where they will try to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, if required to press for the demand.
The Monday meeting will be finalising the future course of action which would include launching an agitation, holding of demonstrations and protests to pressurise the Centre to buy yasangi paddy in the state. Chandrashekhar Rao who will address the meeting is expected to guide the Ministers and other elected public representatives on the protest programmes to be conducted across the State.
In tune with the protests in the State, TRS MPs would be staging protests in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
Telangana Government has been demanding the Centre to procure the entire paddy produced in the State. Last year, a delegation of Ministers from the State, had even met union Ministers to make a clear announcement on paddy procurement, including the quantity. However, there has been no response from the Centre.
“When the Centre procures 100 per cent paddy produced in Punjab, it should direct Food Corporation of India (FCI) to procure entire paddy produced in Telangana as well,” Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said according to a statement from his office.
This season, the TRS party would be intensifying its pressure on the Centre on paddy procurement issue. Specific instructions have been issued to all the TRS elected public representatives to turn up for the meeting on Monday.
