University of Hyderabad to host Quantum Mechanics talks for high school students
The University of Hyderabad will host a national-level conference, '100 Years of Quantum Mechanics' (HYQM-2026), on January 23 and 24. Organised by the School of Physics, the event will feature sessions for postgraduate students and researchers on day one, followed by popular talks for Classes IX to XII students on day two.

Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) is set to organise popular talks for Classes IX to XII students on ‘100 Years of Quantum Mechanics’ on January 23 and 24.
The national-level conference ‘100 Years of Quantum Mechanics’ (HYQM-2026) being organised by the School of Physics on the UoH campus has been designed to cater to two audiences: under/post-graduate physics students and researchers on day one, and Classes IX to XII students familiar with physics and calculus in the second half of day two of the event.
Quantum Mechanics, a branch of Physics, is being introduced to school students who study under the MPC/MBiPC stream in Classes XI and XII.
Speakers Prof. Soumitra Sengupta, Prof. Parthasarathi Majumdar, and Prof. Jayanta Kumar Bhattacharjee will deliver popular talks on topics – The road to uncertainty – A survey from classical to quantum physics, Microsolar electricity generation and application: How we all can! And Quantum mechanics for high school students.
