Warangal Rural: The sudden “disappearance” of a man sleeping in front of his house on Wednesday night from Upparapalli in Chennaraopet mandal has not only created a sensation but has also triggered panic among the family members and villagers who believe it could be case of sorcery. Their suspicion is based on several items including lemon, chillies and lines of black powder usually associated with sorcery found near his cot.
According to villagers, Chimala Satish (32), a farmer, was found ‘missing’ by the family on Thursday morning. He had gone to sleep in front of the house the previous night. They also found a figure of a man drawn with white powder near his cot. Turmeric and vermillion were also sprinkled on the figure and this has been a major cause of worry for the family including his wife, two children and a mother. Though the mobile phone of Satish was found near his cot, his motorcycle is also missing.
On getting to know about the incident, Chennaraopet police visited the village and launched a search for Satish. Besides farming, Satish also collects milk from the villagers and sells it in Narsampet. Villagers said a resident of the village had gone missing in the past in similar circumstances, and he was yet to be traced. It is suspected that sorcerers may have abducted him for ‘sacrifice’ to gain supernatural powers.
