Warangal Urban: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who has been striving hard to revamp medical and healthcare sector in the State, laid foundation stone for a 2,000-bed multi-super speciality hospital with 35 departments on the premises of erstwhile Warangal Central Prison in the heart of the city here on Monday.
The setting up of the hospital is part of the Chief Minister’s exercise to renovate and upgrade existing hospitals, setting up new medical and nursing colleges and other medical and health facilities with a view to make quality healthcare available for the poor. The hospital is being constructed on a par with international standards at a cost of more than Rs 1,000 crore to offer world class medical services to the poor in North Telangana that would also see Warangal emerging as a medical hub after Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister performed ‘bhumi pooja’ and participated in the special puja organised by at least 50 Ruthwiks at the site spread over 59 acres. He also saw the map of the proposed multi-storey building.
Earlier, the Chief Minister unveiled the statue of ‘Prajakavi’ Kaloji Narayana Rao installed on the same premises where the five-storey administrative building of the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) was constructed. He also inaugurated the administrative building. Chandrashekhar Rao went around the building along with Ministers, MLAs, MLCs and others.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the three-storey Integrated District Collectorate Complex in 6.73 acres with a total plinth area of 2.50 lakh sft at Subedari in Hanamkonda.
He offered glowing tributes to Telangana ideologue Prof Kothapally Jayashankar on his death anniversary by garlanding his statue at Ekashila Park in Hanamkonda. Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavathi Rathod, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, ZP chairpersons, Mayor and others attended the programme.
