Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A tiger was sighted crossing the railway tracks in broad daylight at Makodi village in Rajura Taluq of Chandrapur district, around 12 kilometres from Sirpur (T) town here on Wednesday. A video clip of the tiger went viral on social media platforms in Telangana.

In the clip, a man was seen recording with his mobile phone the scene of the tiger crossing the tracks. Locals said tigers often cross the tracks, which pass through a habitat of the tigers. Forests of Makodi and surrounding villages are part of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in Chandrapur district.

Tigers residing in TATR migrate to forests of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district in search of territory and partners for mating in winter at regular intervals. While certain tigers nurture families in the forests of this region by settling down, a few attack humans.

A tiger from Maharashtra mauled Morle Lakshmi (21), a farm laborer, to death at Easgaon village in Kagaznagar mandal on November 29 before attacking Rauthu Suresh at Dubbagudem village in Sirpur (T) mandal on November 30, triggering panic among farmers. Forest officials had installed 50 CCTV cameras to track movement of the tiger.
