NARAYANPET: A woman farmer collapsed while standing in the queue for urea at Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS), Tileru in the district here on Thursday.

Since morning many farmers, including women turned up in large numbers at the PACS. Farmers are forced to stand in serpentine queues at the PACS. Like many, Mannemma too arrived at the PACS and stood in the line and was waiting for turn.

Suddenly, she complained of giddiness and collapsed, immediately the farmers and PACS officials called 108 ambulance and shifted her to a local hospital. Officials claimed Manemma’s health was good and there was nothing to worry, reports said.

Along with token, indelible ink being applied to farmers

Meanwhile, farmers are surprised after officials are applying indelible ink on their thumbs as a mark to ensure there was no repetition in the queue at the PACS.

Generally, officials issue tokens to farmers and ask them to turn up at stipulated time at the PACS to obtain urea bags. However, after noticing that a few people are turning up for the second time in the queue for obtaining tokens, officials are applying indelible ink on their thumbs, the reports said.

Now, urea bags are being offered to farmers, who have tokens and indelible ink on their thumbs. Farmers are surprised over the officials’ decision to apply the ink as done for voters during elections.
