1,123 booked for violating lockdown in Adilabad

Rajesh Chandra stated that police pickets were set up at all important junctions of Adilabad town and vehicles moving on the roads without valid passes were seized and moved to the police stations

Adilabad: In-charge Superintendent of Police M Rajesh Chandra said that the lockdown was being implemented strictly in the district where 1,123 persons were booked and 324 two-wheelers were seized for allegedly violating lockdown norms on Saturday. Rajesh Chandra stated that police pickets were set up at all important junctions of Adilabad town and vehicles moving on the roads without valid passes were seized and moved to the police stations. A total of 14 patrolling vehicles were used for preventing citizens from roaming outdoors.

The IPS officer sought the cooperation of public in implementing the lockdown, and support the Police Department’s efforts to contain the spread of the disease. He said that the police were discharging duties risking their lives in the wake of the second wave of the pandemic. Additional Superintendent of Police B Vinod Kumar and Adilabad DSP Venkateshwar Rao were present.


In the meantime, Ramagundam Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana inspected the implementation of the lockdown in Mancherial town. He said that the lockdown was strictly enforced and officers from home guards to top police officers were taking part in the enforcement of the rules. He added that 2,500 vehicles were seized for flouting the norms so far.
