Hyderabad: The fact that there is a gap between the academic skills and industry needs is well known and a survey points out that almost 33 per cent of youth is facing unemployment due to a dearth of future-ready skills. ImaginXP, an edtech company in the higher education space, found that almost one-third of respondents declared that their existent degree failed in providing them future skills and felt there was a need for an alternative skill-based educational model.

The survey, which was conducted over 11,000 respondents including 141 corporates, also found that 53 per cent of the respondents were unable to find jobs of their choice. In addition, 60 per cent admitted to not earning the ideal salary post completion of their degree. More importantly, almost 75 per cent attested to the fact that training in futuristic skills could have assisted them in achieving greater success in their professional career.
