Activists urge CM KCR to set up more Basti Dawakhanas in Warangal
Social activists including former CWC chairperson Mandala Parashuramulu also urged the Chief Minister to improve the facilities at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital
Warangal Urban: Social activists including former chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), erstwhile Warangal district, Mandala Parashuramulu, have urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to take steps to establish more ‘Basti Dawakhanas’ for the benefit of people from poorer sections of society. They also urged the Chief Minister to improve the facilities at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGMH) in the city.
In a release issued here on Friday, they said: “We bring to your (Chief Minister) kind notice that in our Telangana State, Warangal is the second largest city. However, MGM Hospital still does not have cardio facilities and super speciality doctors. Most of the poor persons visit the MGM Hospital during this Covid pandemic situation. In view of this, there is a need to improve the medical infrastructure at the MGM hospital and also establish more government Basthi Dhawakhanas under Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits.”
Parashuramlu said: “You (Chief Minister) have a great vision. Your decision to shift the central prison to the outskirts and construct a super speciality hospital on the premises is a welcome decision.”
Founder President of Society for Public Welfare and Initiative (SPWI) Dr Suresh Devath urged the Chief Minister to recognise journalists as frontline workers and provide COVID vaccine to them on priority basis besides paying a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of deceased journalist.
Suresh also expressed concern over the “poor facilities at PHCs and lack of supervision by the DMHO.”
