Adilabad: Farmers demanded that the government scrap the Android-based application introduced for purchasing urea. They staged a protest against the system by kneeling down at Mukhra (K) village in Echoda mandal on Friday.
The agitating farmers said the government was misleading farmers by introducing the system. They stated that farmers were struggling to purchase the fertiliser through the application as many of them were not familiar with using mobile phones. They noted that farmers were also facing inconvenience due to the shortage of urea.
The villagers recalled that urea used to be delivered to their doorsteps during the BRS regime. They said farmers could easily obtain the fertiliser by paying transportation charges. They demanded that the government revoke the system and continue the previous method, which they described as simple and farmer-friendly.
