Adilabad police arrested a gang of four cyber-fraudsters, including a minor, for duping people by posing as bank officials. Over 1,500 used mobile phones and components were seized. Officials said the gang extracted sensitive data from repaired devices.

Adilabad: A gang of four cyber fraudsters, including a minor from north India, was busted with the district police arresting them for allegedly duping the public under the guise of bank officials here on Monday. As many as 1,500 used mobile phones, motherboards and batteries were seized from their possession.
Briefing details of the arrest to media persons, SP Akhil Mahajan said that Mohammad Irfan, and a 17-year-old boy from Delhi, Sahil and Anas, both from Uttar Pradesh, were apprehended while moving suspiciously during a vehicle check in Adilabad.
During interrogations, the four confessed to committing the offence by forming a gang. They admitted to purchasing used mobile phones from the public for cheaper prices. They revealed that they were then gathering sensitive information from customers of various banks over the phone to commit cybercrimes with the help of data stored in the devices by repairing the phones.
Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy, I town Inspector B Sunil Kumar, SI Nagnath and other police officials were present for the press meet.
