Ahead of GHMC elections, new TDR policy issued for urban lands

Ahead of GHMC elections, the MA&UD Department has issued a government order granting higher Transferable Development Rights for lands affected by lakes, rivers and nalas. The move offers compensation ranging from 200 to 400 per cent of built-up area surrendered.

Hyderabad: Ahead of GHMC polls, the MA&UD Department on Friday issued GO MS No 16 regarding the granting of Transferable Development Rights (TDR) for lands affected by Full Tank Level (FTL), Maximum Flood Level (MFL) and Buffer Zones of Lakes, rivers, nalas, within Core Urban Region (CURE).

According to the order issued by the special chief secretary, MA&UD Department, Jayesh Ranjan, the lands falling in FTL of lakes, and MFL of rivers, would be compensated with TDR equivalent to 200 per cent of the built-up area of such area surrendered. Lands falling in the buffer zones of lakes and rivers would be compensated with TDR equivalent to 300 per cent of the built-up area of such areas surrendered.


The lands outside buffer zones but are required for public purposes connected with the conservation/development of water bodies would be granted TDR equivalent to 400 per cent of the built-up area of such area surrendered on par with road widening, according to the orders.

In case of nala widening and development taken up in private lands (nalas which are not indicated in revenue records), the TDR would be granted on par with road widening, i.e., equivalent to 400 per cent of the built-up area of such area surrendered, the GO added.
