Kothagudem: Political interference in the affairs of SCCL had increased during the Congress government’s rule, AITUC president and secretary Vasireddy Seetharamaiah and Korimi Rajkumar alleged.
District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds and Singareni CSR funds were being diverted to other areas instead of being used for local development. The Congress government had indulged in misappropriation of the company funds, the leaders alleged.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday they said that a large-scale movement would be launched under the banner of SCCL Parirakshana Samithi bringing together all political parties, people’s organisations and trade unions to protect the Singareni company.
Seetharamaiah and Rajkumar called upon everyone to extend support in safeguarding Singareni interests while demanding the Centre and State government not to hand over mining activity in the SCCL areas to private firms like Adani, Mega, or AMR.
They categorically stated that the AITUC along with others would fight against Adani, Mega and AMR companies and would stop them from setting foot here if the coal blocks were given to them. Any injustice to SCCL in the coal block auction would not be tolerated.
The leaders demanded that mining at Manugur and PK opencast extension projects should be carried out only with the Singareni. There was a need to launch a movement like Telangana statehood movement to protect the Singareni. Handing over Manugur and PK opencast projects to private firms would throw the very existence of the company into danger, they said.
AITUC central secretary Vanga Venkat, leaders Mallikarjuna Rao, Ramgopal, Ramanamurthy, Veeraswamy, Christopher, Erragani Krishnaiah, S Srinivas and others were present.
