42 ambulances were cleared to enter TS through the Wadapally check-post since morning while 18 denied entry, says police personnel

Nalgonda/Suryapet: Unruly scenes were witnessed at the Telangana-Andhra Pradesh borders at Ramapuram Crossroad, Wadapally and Nagarjuna Sagar in erstwhile Nalgonda district with tens of ambulances carrying Covid patients queuing up.

A large number of officials from police, revenue and forest departments were deputed at the three border check-posts to effectively implement GO 104 issued by the State government as part of the 10-day lockdown.

The police did now allow ambulances that didn’t have required permissions into the State at the Ramapuram check-post in Kodad mandal. The police suggested that they get the e-pass, which can even be applied on mobile phones.

Jaggayyapet (AP) MLA Samineni Udhaya Bhanu and former MLA Nettem Raghuram reached the border check-post and spoke with the police officials of Telangana. They expressed their displeasure over the denial of entry to ambulances carrying critical Covid patients. However, they returned when the police asserted that they were implementing the instructions of the government on the movement of vehicles at the State border.

Speaking to the media, Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) of Kodad Kishore Kumar said e-passes and confirmation of admission in hospitals are a must for allowing ambulances carrying Covid patients into the State. “These two documents are a must to enter Telangana. Patients from AP should not come to the border without these documents,” he added.

Superintendent of Police of Nalgonda AV Ranganath also inspected the check-post at Wadapally and gave several instructions to the personnel posted there. The ambulances of non-Covid patients can be allowed into the State without any permissions, he added.

A police officer, who was posted at the Wadapally check-post, said 42 ambulances had entered into the State through the Wadapally check-post since morning by producing required documents while 18 ambulances were denied entry, he added.
