Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh state which is passing through resource crunch is searching ways and means to boost its revenue to meet the demands.
Addressing a meeting with revenue generating departments at his Tadepalli camp office here on Wednesday, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy directed the officials to study the methods adopted by various states for the purpose, examine them and come out with methods and put them into practice to increase state’s own revenue. He felt the Collectors had a key role to play and adopt transparent systems and standard operating procedures in this.
He also said that the focus should be on resolving VAT cases and realising the dues. The registration processes at the village and ward secretariats should be expedited. The registration services which already available in 51 village and ward secretariats should be reviewed and the necessary changes and additions should be made to streamline them, he pointed out.
In this context, Jagan referred to the corruption cases which came into light at Sub-Registrar offices and said it should be ensured that such incidents of corruption and loopholes did not enter the village secretariats by adopting effective SOPs.
Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister Dharmana Krishna Das, ministers Kannababu, Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy and several senior officials attended the meeting.
