Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Buoyed by the success of the Bird Walk Festival in 2019, Forest Department officials are gearing up to host the second edition of the event aimed at exposing lensmen, birders and nature lovers to the rich avian community inhabiting the forests in the district on January 8 and 9.
District Forest Officer S Shantaram told Telangana Today that elaborate arrangements were being made to host the festival by inviting nature lovers and wildlife photographers from different parts of the State. As many as 12 spots frequented by winged wonders have been identified to be explored by the participants during the two-day event, he stated.
“The spots include irrigation tanks, riverfronts, a vulture project near Nandigaon village in Penchikalpet mandal and some important habitats situated in several parts of the district. A total of 60 participants would be allowed to take part in the festival. They will be provided with accommodation, local transportation, food and a guide by charging a nominal fee,” DFO explained.
The officials will convene a meeting with forest range officers (FRO) belonging to both Asifabad and Kaghaznagar forest divisions to chalk out an action plan and to discuss the arrangements in district headquarters on Tuesday. They are taking steps to make the festival a success and to avoid inconvenience to the participants.
