Auto drivers struggle as LPG shortage hits Hyderabad
Auto-rickshaw drivers in Hyderabad are facing severe hardship due to the shortage of auto LPG at fuel stations. Long queues and limited supply have disrupted their daily earnings and transport services, with drivers alleging overcharging and delays.
Hyderabad: Auto rickshaw drivers continue to suffer due to the shortage of auto LPG at fuel stations in the city.
Long queues were seen on Wednesday at a few auto LPG gas stations that were opened, while most of the stations remained closed.
“Yesterday, I waited in the queue for four hours. When it was my turn, they closed down, stating the stock was exhausted. Again, I am in the queue for two hours. Now tell me what I will earn and how I will feed my family,” said Nooruddin, an auto driver at an auto LPG station at Pahadishareef Road.
Mohd Kamaluddin, another auto rickshaw driver in the queue, said students will end up as sufferers if the situation remains unchanged. “I ferry students to different schools. Now, due to auto LPG issues, I am unable to drop them off or pick them up on time. Sometimes, parents drop their children off at school,” he said.
An auto driver, Thirupattanna of LB Nagar, said that they were standing in the queue for 2 to 3 hours every day. “They are charging Rs 30 extra per kilogram of fuel over the actual price. At the end of the day, we are not able to earn Rs 700. These are tough times for us,” he added.
