Kothagudem: BRS cadres have staged protests across the district on Friday against serving a notice on former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing telephone tapping case.
A large number of cadres led by BRS Laxmidevipally mandal president K Venkateshwara Rao staged a blind-folded protest on Kothagudem-Paloncha road. They warned that they would intensify their protest if the illegal SIT inquiry against Chandrashekar Rao was not immediately withdrawn. The Congress government should set aside these bogus cases and instead focus on the development works of Telangana state, Venkateshwara Rao said.
Similarly a massive rasta-roko was staged on Mandalapalli cross roads on Dammapet highway in Dammapet mandal. The mandal party president Dodda Ramesh who led the protest condemned the political conspiracies by the Revanth Reddy government against Chandrashekhar Rao.
He alleged that the Revanth Reddy government, which came to power by deceiving the people with false promises, has neglected governance for the past two years. It has become a habit for the Congress to file false cases against the BRS leadership every time elections approach in order to divert public attention.
There was nothing but political vendetta behind issuing notices to former minister T Harish Rao, BRS working president KT Rama Rao and now Chandrashekhar Rao. The people would not remain quiet if the government tried to harass the BRS leaders on the pretext of SIT investigation and would soon teach the Revanth Reddy government a fitting lesson, he warned.
Similar protests were staged at Bhadrachalam, Aswaraopet, Aswapuram and other mandal headquarters.
