Hyderabad: The BRS condemned the attack on Unemployed JAC (Joint Action Committee) leaders by Congress activists during Jubilee Hills byelection campaign here on Sunday.
BRS MLAs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Madhavaram Krishna Rao, along with senior leaders Enugula Rakesh Reddy, Ragidi Laxma Reddy, Gellu Srinivas Yadav and Tunga Balu, visited Shastri Nagar in Erragadda Division on Sunday following the assault.
The BRS delegation met the JAC leaders and later lodged a formal complaint at the Sanath Nagar police station, demanding immediate action against the perpetrators. They slammed the Congress government for unleashing violence on jobless youth who were peacefully protesting the unfulfilled promises made under the Youth Declaration.
Calling the incident an undemocratic attempt to stifle the dissenting voices, the BRS leaders said the Congress’s attack on highly educated unemployed youth exposes the government’s fear, frustration, and incompetence.
“It is their democratic right to question the government that betrayed them. Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home Ministry portfolio, must take responsibility for turning the police into a tool of political intimidation,” Rajeshwar Reddy said.
BRS leaders said the Congress was resorting to violence across Telangana out of desperation to avoid defeat in the Jubilee Hills bypoll.
“The same youth who believed in Congress and helped it come to power are now being attacked for asking questions. This is proof of the party’s political bankruptcy,” Gellu Srinivas Yadav said.
The BRS extended complete support to the Unemployed JAC leaders and warned that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s arrogance and suppression of dissent would provoke public backlash.
